John Kerrivan |
Vocals, acoustic guitar, congas |
Traces principal vocalist is the former front man for groups such as Mr. James' Freight Line, Mary Jane Company, The Heet, Borrowed Time, and Night Owl. Although absent from the band scene for seventeen years, this forty year veteran of music and voice has never stopped playing and singing, whether it was singing in the church choir, singing for weddings,or entertaining at kitchen parties."I love all varieties of music and i feel most relaxed and true to my passion when i am entertaining in a live setting. Performing with the group Traces is a dream come true. Music is a tremendous emotional and artistic release in my life, and i am elated to be performing again. John can sense an audiences mood and often guides impromptu belief that some excitement is lost if the audience anticipates whats coming next. Even though we use the time capsule theme, we like to mix things up so that any two shows are never alike. |
Gene Crane |
Drums,Percussion |
Traces drummer is
energetic and tasteful, with a style developed over thirty years in such diverse line-ups
as MaryJane Company, The Heet, The Johnny Francis Orchestra, Borrowed Time, Center Lane
and Night Owl. Gene studied under Don Wherry of the NSO and , as he explains, My
best insight into drumming was realizing that less is more. Since then, I use
subtle rhythms to move the beat , leaving more breathing space for the other
instruments. I think overplaying detracts from live performances. So, unless a
song demands more lavish treatment or a drum solo, I concentrate on synchronizing
flawlessly into the rhythm section to give the groove a driving backbeat. |
Pat Keough |

I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show back in 1963 it blew my mind,I knew then what I wanted to do,play the guitar,I never looked back since.I played in several bands growing up with my school friends.I had the previlige of participating with international church choirs at Carneige Hall in N.Y.C.back in 1994,it is something Ill never forget for the rest of my life.I love a challenge in getting new songs off.Im also a music trivia buff.I just love singing and playing the guitar,it dont get any better than this. |
Elton Eustace |
Vocals,Bass Guitar |
The bottom half of the rhythm section features Elton Eustace, a well know musician from the seventies. Bassist with such bands as The Family, Sylvester, Green Back and the Commanders. Elton also offers singing styles that imitate such greats as Doby Grey, Jimmy Buffet and Louie Armstrong. His driving rhythms and tasteful bass runs contribute to the robust and solid sound that make TRACES a truly unique musical experience. |
Bob Dyke> |
Keyboards, Banjo and harmony vocals |
A well-rounded musician with a long list of musical instruments to his credit, sax, piano, banjo, guitar and most recently fiddle. I love the challenge of exploring and conquering musical instruments and especially when I reach the point where I can perform with others. Bobs roots are in the early seventies where he played with Abstract Number, Wabana and Switch. I never thought I d ever play again, especially with such a diverse and talented group of musicians. Bobs style of keyboards are somewhat unique add quick and colorful riffs to the melody line and is often very quick to add a comedic flavor to the overall performance. |
John Dyke |
Trumpet,Percussion |
"I'm having a blast (excuse the pun),three years into it and it keeps on getting better and better" says John, who plays trumpet as well as a wide variety of percussion instruments. Our two piece horn section is powerful and effective. The harmonization of the trumpet and tenor sax creates its own distinctive sound.I have to comment that it's great to work with such talented musicans where we all have so much in common, the honest effort both on and off stage comes through in our music.Sometimes i feel that it's too good to be true having so much fun at this time in one's life. |

A very versatile performer, who takes great pride in his ability to play a wide variety of instruments, from traditional music with the Killarney Band to providing one half of the Traces Brass Section. Jim's roots trace back to playing tenor sax in the School Band and states that he never thought he would pull out the old sax after all these years and play with such a dynamic group as Traces. |
